Busy Summer!

Well its been quite a while since I updated. Its been a busy summer so far. We have the garden in YA! and now are just trying to keep up with the weeds. We went to the Cub scout day camp this year. Since I am a ASSISTANT den leader (lol Cindy) I was made a pack leader for the 4 days of camp. We where pack #4 and I was able to have Carl, Hunter and July from our home den, in our camp pack. Carl had a ton of fun, don't let his "I hate mom with a camera look fool you! Here are some pics of camp. Enjoy!

Boys to Men

I was crusing around the net, looking for fun ideas to keep the kids learning this summer with out hitting any books. I ran across this article. At this time in my life with Charl on the edge of manhood it has been hard for me to watch the changes in him. I have felt like I was losing my first born baby!

This wonderful article of what is happening from a mans point of view is great! I feel much more able to understand and help Charl continue on his path from Boy to Man now, but its just not easy for a mother!

Homeschooling boys!

Well we are here in San Diego! We saw Shamu Rocks the evening we got here on Monday. THe kids got soaked! lol it was great!

We did the Zoo yesterday. Tons of fun, but a TON of walking I am surprised how good we all did even me, I'm even a tenth as soar as I thought I'd be.

Then last night at around 7 we went to Sea World just to see the few things that where by the gate. We got to pet star fish and Sting Rays. I can't believe how soft the sting rays are, its like holding liquid silk. Amazing!

Today the weather is going to be cold and windy, it started last night and is supposed to continue until tonight. So we are putting off the beach until tomorrow. Today we are going to go to the natural history museum (indoors) and see the BODY display! Yikes! Aron isn't all that thrilled with the idea. I don't think any of us are really but I don't think we will get another chance to see it again! Here are a few snap shots of us, driving in the car here, and at the zoo. I will try to get more up some time. Hope everyone is doing well at home, in the COLD!! lol sorry couldn't help my self not to rub it in a little. Even the worst cold here is like our high at home now. See you when we get back!

Some "food" for thought

I read this quote from Brigham Young today. It just reminds me of where my priorities need to be.
“Were I to ask the question, how much wheat or anything else a man must have to justify him in letting it go to waste, it would be hard to answer; figures are inadequate to give the amount. Never let anything go to waste. Be prudent, save everything, and what you get more than you can take care of yourselves, ask your neighbors to help you. There are scores and hundreds of men in this house, if the question were asked them if they considered their grain a burden and a drudge to them, when they had plenty last year and the year before, that would answer in the affirmative, and were ready to part with it for next to nothing. How do they feel now, when their granaries are empty? If they had a few thousand bushels to spare now, would they not consider it a blessing? They would. Why? Because it would bring the gold and silver. But pause for a moment, and suppose you had millions of bushels to sell, and could sell it for twenty dollars per bushel, or for a million dollars per bushel, no matter what amount, so that you sell all your wheat, and transport it out of the country, and you are left with nothing more than a pile of gold, what good would it do you? You could not eat it, drink it, wear it, or carry it off where you could have something to eat. The time will come that gold will hold no comparison in value to a bushel of wheat. Gold is not to be compared with it in value. Why would it be precious to you now? Simply because you could get gold for it? Gold is good for nothing, only as men value it. It is no better than a piece of iron, a piece of limestone, or a piece of sandstone, and it is not half so good as the soil from which we raise our wheat, and other necessaries of life. The children of men love it, they lust after it, are greedy for it, and are ready to destroy themselves, and those around them, over whom they have any influence, to gain it” (Journal of Discourses, 1:, p.250)

Recipe for Liquid Laundry Detergent

I love making my own laundry detergent. It is so much cheaper than buying it from even Sam's and I get to choose what smell I use with this batch. I also have found that adding vinegar to the bleach dispenser instead of bleach keeps me from accidentally bleaching my best shirt but gives me a nice clean fresh smell! Here is my recipe for Liquid Laundry detergent. Enjoy!
